The Standard-Times Greater New Bedford Summerfest - fondly called Greater New Bedford Summerfest is a tradition in festivals in the Northeast and it takes place right here in New Bedford, Massachusetts. This Festival has gained an outstanding reputation as an international folk music and arts festival, and this year it will take place July 5 & 6 from 11AM-7PM throughout the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.

Hosted by the City of New Bedford, The Standard-Times, and New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater New Bedford Summerfest is packed with fun-filled activities for the entire family. Greater New Bedford Summerfest Admission wristbands are required at all six entertainment locations. Passes are $10 for a one day pass, $15 for a 2 day pass. Advanced local sales at all walk-in wristband sales locations are $10 for a weekend pass . The deadline for this discounted price is end of business though Saturday, June 28, 2008.

Greater New Bedford Summerfest 2008 promises to be bigger and better as a result of several new, exciting changes.

July 4th Friday night Greater New Bedford Summerfest kicks off with concert on the main stage beginning at 7 p.m. followed by the City's fireworks display. The Friday concert is a seperate ticket $10 in advance, $15. at the gate.

On Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6, between 11:00 AM and 9:00 PM the Greater New Bedford Summerfest expands to six stages in the National Park that range from the twelve hundred seat "Custom House Stage" to the intimacy of a fifty seat "Meet the Performer" area. An array of well-known and emerging artists will be featured on these stages all weekend.
